Ask questions and we will answer as best we can. The Boros we have listed are ALL very old / original pieces which were part of a large. These are not reproductions or new creations. We have photographed Both sides, Hoping to convey the patchwork. Some Boros are so heavily patched, giving a 2 sided dimension, and , creating a nice heavier (blanket) weight. Others were used as Blanket Throws or Bed Covers.
This Boro is using many varieties of Aizome(Indigo dyed) fabric, many kind of Ikat, Plaid, Stripes and Zanshi. This boro patchwork fabric was likely used by the same family for generations, so it has many layers. "Sashiko" is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching (or functional embroidery) from Japan. "Zanshi" refers to the thread remnants left over from the weaving process. It symbolizes the spirit of "mottainai" and is an excellent example of boro patchwork.
